Community Local involvement

Hammonds LLP has been a member of Business in the Community for a number of years.

Staff get involved in a number of activities to help local schools, charities and their wider community accross the UK. Activities to date have included painting classrooms at Wakefield Primary School in Leeds, helping refurbish Victorian swimming baths in Manchester, and clearing and refurbishing parks and schools in Birmingham.

The firm's involvement in local communities is focussed on education-based initiatives. These include:

  • Right to Read: an ongoing literacy scheme with local schools, such as Ben Jonson School in London, on a weekly basis.
  • Number Partners: a project where volunteers work with children in local schools to develop numeracy skills, with the aid of specific board games.
  • Partners in Leadership: an initiative where senior partners of the firm assist head teachers to develop their management skills, by sharing their commercial and business expertise.
  • Mentoring: a scheme that helps students and undergraduates obtain an insight into the working practices of a law firm.
  • Curriculum Vitae and Interview Techniques: a programme that develops the confidence and skills of people looking for employment.
